Inspection methods for cracks in steel structures

1. Observation method
Use a magnifying glass of about 10 times to observe the paint surface of the component. When you find linear rust marks on the paint surface, or thin and straight cracks on the paint surface, bulges in the surrounding paint film, and rust inside, you can preliminarily conclude that this is the case. If there are cracks, the paint film there should be removed for further inspection.
2. Tapping method
Use a wooden hammer covered with rubber to hit the components and various parts. If you find that the sound is not crispy, the sound transmission is uneven, and there is a sudden interruption, you can conclude that the component has cracks. Where there is uncertainty about the presence of cracks, physical flaw detection methods such as X-rays can be used for further inspection. If there is no such condition, you can drop oil here to check. From the spread shape of the oil stain, you can judge whether there is cracking here. When the oil stain spreads in a relatively symmetrical arc shape, it indicates that there is no crack here; the oil stain When it spreads in a straight shape, it indicates that cracks have formed here.
